Unable to do so, he returns day after day with his sketchbook, filling its pages with words that he shows her in the hope of reaching her.
While he is free to come and go, she remains imprisoned behind the glass, forever separated from the sea she longs to return to. As their quiet bond deepens beyond words, he begins to wonder whether he can simply leave her behind... or if some encounters are destined to change lives forever.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sakino Higure is a Japanese manga artist based in the Kansai region, recognized with several industry honors including the Square Enix Gangan Joker Newcomer Manga Award and honorable mentions in Kodansha's Magazine Edge Comic Award. Emma and the Eyes That Bid Farewell has been serialized on the Ganma platform since November 2025. Higure's other work includes the completed one-shot Lying Is the Beginning of Witchcraft and the ongoing comic adaptation A Middle-Aged Magician's Leisurely Dungeon Conquest.
